Bull

I was sifting through my junk mail inbox when I found this from mountain gear. While I normally don't care about which guide service people use to enjoy climbing (though mine is preferable), I found several issues with this one. I have outline my issues with this advertisement below. It's been two weeks since I replied to this fine websites offer, still no response.

I went to see Anne play at Rico's. Pretty cool. Check out Rico's Music Thursday-Saturday nights. While they were on break I picked up some violincello (pretentious for 'cello which is pretentious for cello) excerpts which I will spend the afternoon practicing one octave lower.

Have fun!

Puppies!!!!!

While making my daily visit to the puppy cam. I found them napping....

Or at a religious ceremony?

Got some killer shirts and dress shoes from the Arc. I don't think I'll be able to be the parrot dude though.

Colorado College Concert week is also coming up so you 'cats' should try to make it out to some of them. I think I play in Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday Concerts. Hear the resonance of Romanian Carved top.

Had!

So today I went up the incline in quasi-ironic style. While I left the suit/tux at home, I threw together some relatively incongruous clothing. Singlet from running (revealing my “Incline Culture Not 4 Sale” tattoo), cycling arm warmers, khaki shorts, five-fingers from nerds, as well a sweat band representing b-ball, and both boxers and briefs (briefs outside of course). I managed to do it a time and a half whilst listening to Kenny Burrell and John Coltrane, and Bobby "Scoot" Schumann. While I was feeling pretty smug about my ironi-cent and a half (also the term used to denote a wheat penny and a half cent for modern day transactions). However, to my dismay, when I got to the top the first time. There was a guy sitting on the top step with two parrots!

Unfair. There is no way that I can compete with ironic wildlife.

You may be wondering why my tattoo underlines "incline." Well, really, my tattoo actually says "_____ Culture Not 4 Sale" that way I can carry a magic marker with me wherever I go, and I can always be legit. Just rub of "Incline" and replace it with "Jazz" (but also add a foot note so people realize they are actually quite welcome to buy it, it more of a sentiment). "Spaghetti-O's," "Puppy-cam" and "Cheese" usually find there place on my chest in a given day.

I've also discovered a shocking new trend in Liberal Arts Bike Culture. I don't put that on my chest because if someone wanted to buy any of my bikes or bike paraphernalia at vastly inflated price I'd be glad. Apparently, a frame set my now include the saddle. On a nearby bicycle race I found this

This doesn't seem all that surprising for a fixed gear conversion (other that the foot retention issue and the locking job),

But now Schwinn has somehow been able to come up with a saddle that compliments the frame. So I guess on Schwinns , frame compatibility is going to be more important than taintal compatibility for your saddle. I for one am going on a boycott of Schwinn (except for their heart rate monitor watch which I kind of like). I'm going to mix a match which ever saddle I want on any frame whenever I want (some guy did get mad at me for putting a Korean mountain saddle on his Madone, while I was taking his Selle Italia to put on my road bike, having broken into his garage at 3am. I think he understood once I explained the principle of the matter to him.)

7th Block: A Music Theory Experience

Its a Wednesday afternoon and I don't have anything to do, I'm simultaneously swinging between delusionaly tired and over caffeinated, and I'm mildly sick. That means its block break.

That's pretty cool, I guess.

A chance to sleep, ride (epic-ly), practice for hours (if not days) on end, eat spaghetti-os whenever the mood hits me, and make a latte whenever the mood hits me.

Unfortunately, it also gives me the task of looking back on the last three and a half weeks. What did I do in the last 3 and a half weeks? Why?

I'm pretty sure I took that music theory class with Dan Brink. I listen to the first two acts of Peter Grimes. I got my mountain bike clean enough so that front dérailleur functions. I rode to Cripple Creek. I sat in Cheyenne Canyon for a bike race. I got a real quiver for my bass... Probably nothing else of note.

Oh yeah. Some of the normal things happened. Several Colorado Springs residents who happen to drive automobiles managed to let me know what they think a lycra kit says about me. I drank some coffee. Saw Ricky and Reid a couple of times. The CC music scene disappointed a little bit more. Dan Brink never ceased to amaze me.

Life isn't too bad!
